Nikon products have achieved the ultimate success in many optical fields from camera lenses, semiconductors, steppers and microscopes to measuring instruments. Nikon's corporate philosophy of "Confidence to Create" is totally supported by our innovative approach.

Ophthalmic lenses which have been designed and created by "Nikon optical design technology" have kept Nikon at the very forefront of World leading optical technology.

A spectacle lens that is truly individually designed
The characterisitics of Nikon Seemax are based on using the prescription to ensure a finished lens virtually free of aberration and distortion that can restrict the usable areas. Single vision wearers experience almost natural vision whilst progressive lens wearers find distance, intermediate and near vision are extended to a level not experienced before. Both lens designs employ Nikon's exclusive Aberration Filter Surface, meaning that frame and prescription information is used for more than merely aesthetic reasons. Increasingly knowledgeable wearers can now have unsurpassed visual performance from their Nikon Seemax lenses. Hi-tech, quality designs backed by the confidence of the Nikon brand.

The design of Seemax Progressive is able to accurately allow for changes in working distance and therefore inset. The reading width for a conventional progressive with standard inset is determined by the quality of the design. Working distance and prescription, for example, are not taken in to account when considering the inset.

The default inset is 2.5mm, but the inset of Seemax Progressive can be selected from 0.00mm to 5.00mm in 0.10mm steps. (A table is available to help select the correct inset). The inset values are based on three variables; distance power, pupillary distance and near working distance. The optimum inset provides wider vision from intermediate to near.

Variable Insets 0.00mm to 5.00mm

Non-Optimised near vision, according to working distance.
